In a landmark move for grassroots esports in India, the Government of Rajasthan, in partnership with AA Gaming, has launched the Rajasthan State Esports Championship (RSEC) 2025. Spearheaded by the Rajasthan Youth Boardunder the Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, this initiative marks a major leap toward formalizing the esports ecosystem in the state.
RSEC 2025 is set to engage thousands of players across all 41 districts of Rajasthan and over 200 colleges, making it one of the largest state-backed esports initiatives in India to date.
Featured Titles:
- Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI)
- Counter-Strike 2 (CS2)
- E-Cricket
- E-Football
Tournament Format:
- Open Qualifiers
- Inter-College Knockout Rounds
- Semifinals
- Grand Finals (to be live-streamed and followed by an awards ceremony)
Beyond competitive gaming, RSEC 2025 will also focus on esports education and career development. AA Gaming will conduct interactive workshops during the inter-college knockout phase, covering:
- Strategic gameplay
- Game development
- Mental health and wellness in esports
- Career paths in the gaming industry
Workshops will also delve into team communication, match analysis, professional ethics, and sportsmanship—all facilitated by industry experts.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Neeraj Kumar Pawan (I.A.S.), Chairman of the Rajasthan Youth Board, said:
“As Rajasthan currently does not have an official esports federation, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to support and grow this ecosystem. RSEC 2025 is the first step in building a structured and inclusive esports environment across the state.”
He emphasized the government’s long-term vision of integrating esports into mainstream sports policy, potentially setting an example for other Indian states.
Akash Dhangar, Founder and CEO of AA Gaming, expressed his excitement about the initiative:
“We’re proud to partner with the Rajasthan Youth Board on this pioneering championship. This isn’t just about competition—it’s about empowerment. Through our workshops and mentorship programs, we aim to nurture not just players but also casters, developers, and future esports leaders.”
RSEC 2025 comes at a time when esports is gaining global legitimacy through platforms like the Olympic Esports Series and the Asian Games. With its inclusive format and educational backing, RSEC 2025 could serve as a template for other regional governments seeking to invest in esports at the grassroots level.
By combining competitive play, skill-building, and government support, the Rajasthan State Esports Championship is shaping up to be a game-changer for India’s esports future.
It’s great to see initiatives like RSEC 2025 taking the lead in fostering esports in Rajasthan. The focus on building a structured and inclusive environment is commendable, especially in a state without an official esports federation. Partnering with the Rajasthan Youth Board adds credibility and reach to this effort. The emphasis on empowerment through workshops and mentorship programs is a step in the right direction, as it goes beyond just competition. However, I wonder how sustainable this initiative will be in the long run without an official governing body. What are the plans to ensure continuous support and growth for the esports ecosystem in Rajasthan? This could be a game-changer for aspiring players and professionals in the region.
